Maintenance standards

Maintenance standards form the basis of both the planning and accounting of maintenance work. By setting standard maintenance protocols, all work processes, pricing, and later the analysis of KPIs set forth in the maintenance contracts can be standardized. The most important advantage of standard data management is comparability, because you will be able to create an apple to apple comparison in terms of price, performance, and service level of all your in-house maintenance workers and subcontractors. When you have pre-defined standards, you can identify those pieces of equipment and maintenance points that operate less efficiently or more expensively than others, and thus improve price and service quality.

Maintenance standards

  • •  relate to work categorization
  • •  ensure uniform work description
  • •  have the skills required for a type of work pre-defined in them
  • •  make it possible to break down contracted unit prices
  • •  help you identify the worker, subcontractor, and the person in charge
  • •  help you determine the optimal frequency for i.e. scheduled maintenance or janitorial works
  • •  significantly accelerate the creation of maintenance plans.

In many countries there are predefined maintenance standards that determine uniform work categorization. Always remember to check those before creating your scheduled maintenance plans. Drawing on what your country’s standards mandate, you can easily create your own company standards and then add those to ArchiFM.
